Everyone has a special skill or talent.  Mine just happens to be that I am a very organized person.  That’s just how I tick.  That’s just how I roll.  When I help my clients, I can see their problem areas through fresh eyes, it’s like putting a puzzle together.  Now a real puzzle, I have no patience for.  Put me in a craft store-not a clue what to do.  Put me under a car hood-ummm, ya-whatever!  Yes, I AM a professional organizer, that’s what I do best!

I think people are often embarrassed that they are disorganized.  They are busy, intelligent, educated people surrounded by clutter.  They feel bad that they can’t fix it themselves.  They feel ashamed that they don’t have the skills to get it under control and have to call in help.  Usually people are just overwhelmed and they don’t know where to begin to dig out, even if they do have an appreciation for home organization. I am often asked, “how long does it take to learn Spanish?” I’m afraid that this is largely a million dollar question and one for which there’s no common response.

Sadly there are simply far too many variables involved, in that so much depends on how much effort someone is willing to put into studying the language, and also which technique or program they’ll be using. Add to that the indisputable fact that while some individuals may choose to use the services of a private mentor, others will choose a classroom environment instead. In reality, some students will rather select using one or other home study program which gets use from books, multimedia, software, and audio recordings. You also have to ask yourself whether the person will be learning the language in a place where it’s spoken as the native language, or whether they’ll be learning it in their home country. Additionally, the quality of a program or the experience of a teacher will also influence the result.

Because these variables will have such a direct result on how long does it take to learn Spanish, it is just not possible to provide a simple response to this query. In reality, I have personally been involved with scholars who after six months, managed to communicate confidently in conversational Spanish, but also , I’ve met individuals who have attempted to study the Spanish language for a few years, albeit on an on and off basis, and yet after many years they can hardly get by.

Rather than attempting to supply a simple answer to this question, I’d prefer to respond with what I feel to be the quickest way of learning Spanish. The most important step of all, is for a person to seize each available opportunity regarding interacting in the language they want to learn, regardless of what language that may be.

While you definitely do get those who are firm followers of the lecture room approach, I feel it takes too long unless it is done in association with another technique. You may be noticing the buzz about Google Wave and wondering if it is just a bunch of hype over the latest shiny object on the web. Google aficionados seem to think this is a game changer… a disruptive technology that will fundamentally alter the way people communicate.
