How to Pick the Top Running Shoe

Serious runners know that their shoe is the most important piece of gear. With so many running shoes on the market it can be confusing to know exactly what to look for when researching shoes. Does a shoe exist that you can buy that will go the distance without breaking down? The best running shoe doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Good running shoes fit well.

It’s a fact, your running shoes are your most expensive gear - like toddlers thinking of their Razor Kiddie Kick Scooter. Your pinkies will be protected and your stride will probably improve with good shoes. Millions of dollars go into running shoes and almost all of the athletic shoe makers make significant investment back into R&D of jogging shoes.

I think the best shoes are…… ASICS, Brooks and Pumas. I am happy with these brands I mention much like I am with my Razor A2 Scooter. Most of the Asics and Brooks you buy will have nice ankle support and cushiony throughout. Now with Pumas dependant on the shoe, they probably won’t have the cushioned ankle support. But they are lightweight and comfortable. I highly recommend Asics and Brooks. I can say all of my preferences, but really what works for you is what is best for you.  I have never come across a bad pair of Brooks or Asics. It may be difficult, but it’s well worth it to find what fits best on your foot.

No matter what type of jogging you do, it is very important to choose running shoes that are correct for you. If you’re just getting started in jogging, this is essential. Avoid beginning on a bad note and wearing the wrong type of shoes. Don’t worry about getting something extravagant, start good and protect your feet.

Start with a running store, many you can find near you online by Googling running shoes and tell them exactly how you run. Make sure you get your arches checked at the store to get the best fit. Find the arch size and you’ll know what shoe to wear like a toddler with a Razor Jr Folding Kiddie Kick Scooter. It’s true, the arch measurement is crucial in finding the best jogging shoe.

You need to know what type of foot you have in order to choose a shoe that correctly supports your particular foot type. Running shoes have one of three different shapes: straight, semicurved and curved. To find out which type your foot is, take the wet test: put your foot in water and then stand up on any surface that will leave an imprint of your foot. With this imprint, you’ll see if you have one of the three most common foot types—normal, flat, or high arched.

Crazy as it seems, many people are thinking that running without any shoes at all is good for the feet. This has runners shucking off their high-tech trainers in favor of naked feet — or minimalist footwear like Newton All-Weather Trainer, the Nike Free and the glove-like Vibram FiveFingers.

And who said that shoes prevent injuries anyway?  Do they really?  They really haven’t done anything since they were invented. Take them off and studies have shown that fewer injuries occur making you think that shoes actually cause injury. Runners who wear cheap running shoes have fewer injuries than those wearing expensive trainers. Meanwhile, injuries plague 20 to 80 percent of regular runners every year.
